Santa Fe Institute

Postdocs in Complexity Conference

January 10, 2017 - January 13, 2017
9:00 AM
Noyce Conference Room

Abstract. This is the first of two postdoc conferences this year that will bring together the James S McDonnell Foundation (JSMF) postdocs and the Santa Fe Institute (SFI) postdocs. We will promote active discussion and collaboration between the participants with a combination of research jams and discussion sessions. Invited speakers will give talks on a wide variety of topics from SFI’s postdoctoral leadership program; proposal development and funding strategies, communications, policy making, negotiating and public speaking skills, to name a few. There will also be presentations from members of SFI’s Applied Complexity Network (ACtioN) along with an opportunity to meet with leaders from business and government.
Major outcomes that we are seeking will be to develop a strong network, build collaborative research, establish best practices for complex systems science research and introduce many of the JSMF postdocs to the Santa Fe Institute. We will aim to prepare participants to communicate their high quality, innovative research effectively to the scientific community and become thought leaders who shape the future of science.

Purpose: Research Collaboration

SFI Host: David Krakauer and Hilary Skolnik

  • * SFI community lectures are free, open, & accessible to the public.
  • * Other SFI events are by invitation only.
